DELNET was started at the India International Centre Library in January 1988 and was registered as a society in 1992. It was initially supported by the National Information System for Science and Technology (NISSAT), Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. It was subsequently supported by the National Informatics Centre, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerized services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible.

J-Gate is an electronic gateway to global e-journal literature. Launched in 2001 by Informatics India Limited, J-Gate provides seamless access to millions of journal articles available online offered by 14,707 Publishers. It presently has a massive database of journal literature, indexed from 66,105 e-journals with links to full text at publisher sites. J-Gate also plans to support online subscription to journals, electronic document delivery, archiving and other related services.

SOUL library software had been purchased in 2009 from INFLIBNET, Ahmadabad which is a wind of UGC. Recently a new version has been updated with SOUL 3.0 Following are the salient features:

1. Any member of the library can have the OPAC access through any system LAN/Wi Fi from the entire campus
2. Members can search whether a particular title of the book is available or not
3. Members can reserve the books instantly from their desktop
