Guest Lecture - 2017

On 17&18th February 2017, our CSE Department has conducted guest lecturer on Design and Analysis of Algorithm by Dr. P. Venkata Subba Reddy for III yr CSE students. Dr. P. Venkata Subba Reddy works as an Associate Professor at National Institute of Technology, Warangal. His primary research interests are in design and analysis of algorithm with specific focus on graph theory, graph coloring and P and Np complete problems. He has published a book and several peer reviewed papers internationally. He has served on the organizing or program committees of several international conferences and journals.

The guest lecture started at 10:00 am by welcoming our Eminent Speaker Dr. P. Venkata Reddy by our by Dr. S. Senthil Kumar, HOD CSE GNIT. Then HOD CSE highlights how this lecture is important for us and then Dr. P. Venkata Subba Reddy has given his short speech.

CSI Foundation day – 2016

Computer Society of India - Department of CSE, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Ibrahimpatnam organized CSI foundation day on 05th March 2016. Department of CSE organized a one day Industrial Visit to TCS (Tata Consultancy Services Limited), Deccan Park Office 1, Software Units Layout, Madhapur, Hyderabad.

In this regard the Visit Scheduled on 6th April, 2015. Batch 1 contains 65 students scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM accompanied by Mr. Vinaysagar Anchuri, Assistant Professor. Batch 2 contains 65 students scheduled from 02:30 PM to 05:00 PM accompanied by Mr. B. Sudhakar, Associate Professor. Total communication was done with Mr. Richard King Chatragadda, Academic Relationship Manager, TCS, Madhapur and the Session given by C. Jonnalagadda. He has briefed about the IT Services, Business Solutions and Consulting at TCS and also how the outside marked will be.

Guru Nanak Institutions in association with Computer Society of India has organized a 4 days Faculty Development program on Advanced Techniques in C Program from 29-06-2015 to 08-09-2015.The speakers for the event were eminent personalities from the teaching fraternity who have great teaching and research experience in the field of Computer Science.

The resource persons are Dr.Uma Garimella, Consultant, Nagakumar Kondisetti, CEO and Co-Founder,DevmenIT and Prof. Vikrant, Assoc.Prof, CVR Engineering College Around 30 faculty members from the depts. Of CSE and IT from both GNIT and GNITC have attended the workshop.

CSI Hyderabad Chapter have conducted a SBC meet at Osmania university campus regarding CSI development and measures to be taken for improving the chapter in our State.

CSI have launched i-csi to make more benefit to students. Meeting was held to know the problems of student branches in each and every college and explained the benefits of CSI and what are the preventive measures to be taken for the development of our society were discussed.

SBC meet was started with Welcome address by K Mohan Raidu Convenor,CSI Hyderabad Chapter followed by chairman’s address and discussed about the history of CSI.

Dr.DD Sarma and Mr.Raju Kanchibotla and Dr.DVR Vithal addressed the meet then Prof ML Saikumar have spoke about Industry Academia Interface etc, followed by lunch. Post lunch SB’s Calendar for 2015-2016 and vision of CSI were discussed then with vote of Thanks SBC meet wrapped up.

ACM Eminent Speaker Dr. Y. Raghu Babu Reddy On 29th January 2015, our upcoming GNIT Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) chapter has organized an invited talk by ACM Eminent Speaker Dr. Y. Raghu Babu Reddy on “ Success Factors for Websites: Usability and Credibility”. This was a pilot program from our upcoming GNIT Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) chapter to motivate our CSE and IT students to be part of ACM and open our student chapter here.

Dr. Raghu Reddy works as an Associate Professor at IIIT Hyderabad and heads its Software Engineering Research Center. His primary research interests are in design and construction of complex software systems with specific focus on Aspect oriented software development, Model driven architectures and Usability. He was also the IIIT Head for the CA-IIIT innovation center at CA Technologies, Hyderabad. He has published a book and several peer reviewed papers internationally. He has served on the organizing or program committees of several international conferences and journals. Previously Dr. Reddy was an Assistant professor of Software Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York, the first ABET accredited undergraduate program in USA. At RIT he played a major role in developing the Master's program in Software Engineering. He has also worked on projects with companies like CA Technologies, Alstom Signaling, Nokia, TCN telecom, Qwest, etc. and governmental agencies like MHRD and DIT. Dr. Reddy received his doctorate from Colorado State University.

The event started at 11:20 am by welcoming our ACM Eminent Speaker Dr. Y. Raghu Babu Reddy by our Guest welcome committee members along with Faculty coordinator of IEEE GNIT Student Branch and upcoming ACM Student chapter coordinator Prof. Aniuddha Bhattacharjya. Then our respected Managing Director, GNI, Dr. H S Saini, have a short meeting with our respect chief guest. Inauguration program started at 11:40 am. Dr. S. Sreenatha Reddy, Principal, GNIT, Dr. Veeranna, Director, GNITC accompanied with our chief guest Dr. Y. Raghu Babu Reddy in the inauguration and all of them gave their inaugural speech. Dr. S. Sreenatha Reddy, Principal, GNIT spoke about the ACM Student chapter which is going to be opened in our college and the importance of ACM for us. Then Dr. Veeranna, Director, GNITC highlights how this kind of program is important for us and then Dr. Y. Raghu Babu Reddy has given his short speech.



Then the talk started at 12:10 pm on Success Factors for Websites: Usability and Credibility. The Synopsis of the talk was- Research has shown that the usability and the perception of credibility are key factors that can make a website successful and influence the user's preference for choosing and using a website. The talk was focus on the two important factors: Usability and Credibility. These factors were discussed from the perspective of a web designer as well as the end user. He took our website as a case study. This talk outlined various models and corresponding research results. It was totally an interactive session from beginning to end. His speech on the topic was a very useful to the students present in the hall.

On 30th January 2015, our Guru Nanak Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch has organized an invited talk by Dr. P Ravi Shankar, Chair, Education Society Chapter, IEEE Hyderabad Section on “Relevance of Competence Today". This was a pilot program from our Guru Nanak Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch to motivate our CSE and IT students to join IEEE as student member and to be part of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch. Above 400 students attended this talk.

Dr. P Ravi Shankar is the Chair of Education Society Chapter, IEEE Hyderabad Section for 2014- 2015 and 2015-2016. Also he is Manager Business Systems, Business Systems & Cybernetics Center,Tata Consultancy Services, Plot No 1, Survey No. 64/2, Software Units Layout, Serilingampally Mandal, Madhapur, Hyderabad - 500034,Andhra Pradesh, India. Then the talk started at 1:45 pm on “Relevance of Competence Today". The talk was full of real time data and graphs to represent various aspects of several competence components in our career for campus recruitment and training. It was totally a interactive sessions. We have almost half an hour question and answer session with our guest in various related areas in the talk.

The department engages students in various types of training programs throughout the year right from soft skills to technological skills. These programs enable student to approach, attend and succeed in placement drives conducted by the college through various MNC Organizations.


2nd International Conference ICICSE-2014 on 8th and 9th August-2014

GNIT has organized a two day international conference on Innovations in Computer Science and Engineering ICICSE-2014 on 8th and 9th August, 2014. This second conference in succession to our 1st conference held successfully during last September. The focus of ICICSE- 2014 is to provide an opportunity for all the professional and aspiring researchers, scientists, academicians and engineers to exchange their innovative ideas and new research findings in the field of computer science and engineering.

As curtain raiser of the conference, we have organized two day pre-conference tutorial for the students, research scholars and faculties in the emerging technologies such as “Cyber Security” which was convened by Dr. C. Shoba Bindu, HOD-JNTU, Anantapur on 1st August followed by a tutorial “Android Mobile Application Development” by Mr. Ravi Sattanapalli, Global Competency Head from WIPRO, Hyderabad on 2nd August. We have received an alluring response for the preconference tutorials with about 325 students, faculties, technocrats not only from GNI but also various other institutions throughout the state.

More than 500 participants have sent their papers in the areas of network security, image processing, cloud computing, mobile computing, and other contemporary technologies, etc., for this conference. About 40 authors from USA, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, Bangladesh and Ethiopia and other countries across the globe have submitted their research papers for the conference. Out of 400 papers 160 have been selected for presentation in six technical sessions. The quality of the content in the papers has been scrutinized in three phases, i.e. subject experts, plagiarism check and also by the publisher who is providing ISBN. 130 papers have been published in conference proceedings with ISBN.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural function of conference was Dr. H.R. Mohan, CSI President. The Chief Guest focused on the need of innovations in day to day life which impacts socio-economic cultures. He released conference proceedings.

Dr. Chandrasekhar Commuri, Professor California State University, USA, gave the key note address on innovations, technologies and its negative impacts on students and technocrats and he released Souvenir of the conference.

Mrs. Swarna Bai Arniker, IEEE chair person of WIE affinity group executive committee, Hyderabad Chapter and Scientist E, RCI, stressed on widening the IEEE women’s Chapter in Hyderabad and womens’ rolls in today’s technologies.

Mr. Durgesh Mishra, Chairman Division IV CSI from Indoor, Professor Dean R&D, Indoor and guest of honor focused on younger generations need on innovations in today’s current technologies.

Sardar GS Kohli, Vice-Chairman of GNI and pattern of the conference welcomed participants and congratulated them. Dr. H S Saini, Managing Director, GNI and Conference Chair, stressed on the quality of the research papers, plagiarism checking’s and innovations as part of placements. Further students and participants were informed about 31 students who have been placed in Tech Mahindra recently. 480 + GNI students have been placed in leading corporate, industries and MNC’s.

The co-chair of the conference Dr. Rishi Sayal, Dean-Academics & Training, briefed the audience about the 399 papers received, 191 papers accepted and published in proceedings and 12 best quality papers in GNI’s Journal of innovation in Computer Science.

The conference concluded with a valedictory function presided over by Bipindev Mehta CSI Vice President, Director Ahmedabad University and IEEE Computer Society Chapter Chairman, Mr. Hariprasad Devarapalli, with a positive note on next year’s aspirations for research findings.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology CSI Student Branch has conducted a demo on “Art Of Living Happiness course” course which was given by ‘santhosh Ji’ and ‘Bhamini ’.

It was about 45 minute’s session where 120 students from CSE & IT Dept have attended this Session. The session started off with addressing at 12:00 PM on 18th September 2014. The main objective of this course is

CSI DEBATE COMPETITION

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology CSI Student Branch has conducted a “Technical Debate Competition” on ENGINEER’S DAY. It was a one and half hours debate competition where 20 students from CSE & IT Dept have been participated in this event.

In this debate we gave two topics to two groups where one has to support the topic and another has to oppose the topic. Basically it was a comparison between two platforms. Eg: Debate on C and C++.


The event started off with addressing at 2:30 PM on 15th September 2014. The Coordinators for this event are Mr. J Naresh Kumar & Mrs. D.L.N Prasunna.

The session started at 2:40 PM. The participants were divided into two groups. The session started with inspiring speech from the Mrs.D.L.N.Prasunna.

After an excellent contra-version between two teams, the winners were selected for the final round with again two groups. The topic for the final round winners are “Windows Vs Android”. The selections are done by the support of co-ordinators and also from audience.

The DEBATE ended with conclusions from both the teams. The participants were judged individually by audience and coordinators. The event ended with the valedictory function. The Feedback was taken from the participants.

The Department looks forward for such events in near future.


One day workshop on Cloud Computing

Department of CSE and IT of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology conducted a one day workshop on cloud computing through IBM Bluemix on 21st August 2014. Dr. Sandeep Singh Rawat, Head – CSE introduced the resource person Mr. C. Yuktesh, IT specialist, IBM. After that Mr. Yuktesh delivered a technical talk on cloud computing and involvement of IBM Blue mix in cloud computing. Afternoon session he discussed and shown the demonstration on how to develop an apps in cloud environment using Bluemix. The workshop was attended by 120 students from CSE and IT.


A Three Day Workshop on Problem Solving and C Programming from 26th December to 28th December 2013.
Professor R.S.Salaria former Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Thapar University, Patiala and alumni of IIT Delhi has conducted a three days workshop from 26th December 2013 to 28th December 2013 on “Problem solving and C Programming” in GNI campus. Total 107 students have registered and attended the workshop. At the end of the workshop participation certificates were distributed to the participants. Contests on C programming through lab sessions and quiz contest on C language were conducted as a part of theory session. Meritorious Certificates were issued to the students who performed well in the contest and quiz session. The feedback of the students regarding the workshop was excellent and the students find the workshop to be very motivating and engrossing.

Technical Quiz

Computer Society of India - GNIT student’s branch & department of CSE and IT Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Ibrahimpatnam organized a technical quiz followed by paper presentation on 28th December, 2013 and 4th January, 2014. Total 76 students participated from CSE and IT departments. The faculty members Mr. Naresh Kumar, Mrs. Prasunna and Mrs. Nazimunnissa were the jury for the technical paper presentation.

Finally the following students were emerged as winners and were awarded prizes by Prof. Narendra Kumar, Vice Principal & Prof. Sandeep Singh Rawat, HOD – IT,

The department has tied up with Microsoft where students are trained on various Technologies and exposed to the current Industry demands.

The department has tied up with various government and private sector organizations for its students in executing their main projects at their premises. Some of them are DRDL, DLRL, RCI, ECIL, DLRL, BSNL(RTTC), NI-MSME, NSIC, Mahindra SATYAM etc..





1st International Conference ICICSE-2013 on 20th and 21st September-2013.

Department of Computer Science Engineering of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology jointly organized the 1st International Conference in Innovation in Computer Science Engineering on 20th and 21st September 2013 at its spacious indoor auditorium. It was a very proud moment for the GNITIANS because in a gap of just 40 days, Guru Nanak Institutions has organized this International Conference, after the grand success of Second International Conference in Innovation in Electronics and Communication Engineering on 09th and 10th August 2013. The aim of the ICICSE – 2013 conference was to provide a platform for research scientist technocrats and engineers to exchange their innovative ideas and explore research findings in the field of Computer Science Engineering.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Professor K. Lal Kishore Vice Chancellor JNTU (Anantapur) stressed on the need of developing innovative ideas which can be put to the practical use for the welfare of the society and nation as whole. The Chief Guest released the proceedings of the conference, souvenir and Volume 3 Issue1 of Journal of Innovation in Computer Science and Engineering.

Guest of Honors Professor A. Govardhan, Chairman CSI – Hyderabad Chapter and professor in JNTU (Hyderabad) said that the research scholars should focus on the problematic areas and look for the solutions. Guest of Honor Dr. Zaheer Ahmed, Executive Director – International Education Southeast Missouri State University laid importance on learning innovative things from the diverse societies.

Sardar G.S. Kohli, Vice Chairman – Guru Nanak Institutions congratulated the participants of the conference.

H.S.Saini , Managing Director – Guru Nanak Institutions stressed on the need of originality of the thought and raised the concern regarding the increasing plagiarism. The Convener of the conference Professor Rishi Sayal, Dean (Academics and Training) GNIT briefed the audience about the 460 papers received, 105 papers were published in proceedings and 10 in the innovation journal .Remaining papers were placed in the souvenir. As per the opinion of all the participants it was an excellent and knowledgeable event.

  • Principal, vice-principal, HODs and other senior faculty members attended “Interactive session ” with Dr. Krishna Vedula on Feb 13 at 4:30 pm and discussed how GNI is playing an important role for transformations in engineering education.

  • Department of CSE, IT, Department of Computer Applications and IUCEE of GNI jointly organized a national level faculty leadership institute program on “Data Mining and Data Ware Housing” by Dr. S. Lakshmivarahan (Professor of Computer Science at University of Oklahoma, USA).
  • Ch. Raghava Rao and Mirza Hyder Ali Baig attended the course “Active Learning & Project based Learning” as a part of the 2013 Indo-US Engineering Faculty Leadership Institute from August 7-9, 2013 organized by Centre for Engineering Education Research At BVB College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli, Karnataka, India.
  • Webinar on “Algorithm Analysis” was conducted for II year CSE of GNIT scheduled on every Tuesday (11am to 12 pm). It was conducted on 22nd, 29th of January 2013, 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th of February 2013 and 5th, 12th of March 2013; over all 6 webinars were conducted.
  • Webinar on “Algorithm Analysis” covered topics like Time Complexity, Divide and Conquer, Greedy Techniques, Multi Stage Graphs using dynamic Programming, NP hard and NP complete problems.
  • Webinar on “Compiler Design” was conducted for III year CSE of GNIT and scheduled on every Friday (9.45am to 10.45am). It was conducted on 25th January of 2013, 1st ,8th ,15th ,22nd of February, 1st , 8th, 15th of March 2013, over all 6 webinars were conducted.
  • Webinar on “Data and Network Security” was conducted for III year CSE, and scheduled on every Thursday (9.45am to 10.45am). It was conducted on 24th 31st January of 2013, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th of February, 7th, 14th of March 2013, over all 6 webinars were conducted.
  • “Data and Network Security” Course covered Basics, RSA Algorithm, Transport Layer, RC4 Algorithm, Hashing Authentication, Security Attacks and Security Mechanisms’.
  • Webinar on “C and Data structures” was conducted for I year CSE and IT of GNIT and scheduled on every Thursday (9.45am to 10.45am). It was conducted on 24th 31st January of 2013, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th of February, 7th, 14th of March 2013, over all 8 webinars were conducted.
  • “C and Data structures” Course covered Basics, functions, pointers, structures, arrays and fundamental concepts on Data structures.
  • Conducted 14 webinars for II,III and IV year students of CSE from 4th September 2012 to 18th October 2012.Webinars conducted in Algorithm Analysis, Communication Engineering, Introduction to MAT Lab, Data Mining, ABET Accreditation, Introduction to Graph Theory and Algorithms, C and Data Structures, Automata Theory and Advanced Operating System.
  • A Guest Lecture conducted on “OOPS through Java” by Mr.B.SrinivasaRao,Project Manager,Olympia soft,Hyderabad on 14th Mar, 2013.
  • A Guest Lecture conducted on “Network Security” by Dr. Hussain,Principal,CJIT,Janagam,Warangal on 13-14 March ‘2012
  • A Guest Lecture conducted on “Database Management Systems” by Dr.K.Raghava rao,Professor,KL University,Vijayawada on 10th April, 2012.
  • A Guest Lecture conducted on “Software engineering” by Mr.G.Anil kumar,Associate Professor,MGIT,Hyderabad on 11th Oct, 2012.
  • Entrepreneurship Orientation Program was conducted and about 156 students were participated in the workshop.

  • A Guest lecture on “Cloud computing with windows Azure” by Mr. Navaz (Microsoft Student Partner), for an aware to the students in the advanced concepts in Computer Science and Engineering on July 23rd 2010
  • A Guest Lecture on “Software Trends Going Forward” by Mr. Aditya Rao on 25th July, 2009.
  • Pre placement training and Microsoft training programs were conducted to make student better equipped with soft and communication skills, which will help them in attending and succeed in interviews.

ICICSE- 2013 Pre Conference Tutorial on 13th September 2013.

The ICICSE pre conference tutorial was held on 13-09-2013 at Guru Nanak Institutions Ibrahimpatanam. In this preconference tutorial Dr. P. Radha Krishna from Infosys Research Labs delivered a lecture on Big Data. Dr. P. Radha Krishna is an eminent and expert in BIG DATA. 200 students from CSE and IT department from GNIT attended this pre conference tutorial. Around 50 students of other engineering colleges of Hyderabad also attended this pre conference tutorial. This is one of the upcoming areas in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Students told that the conference was very informative.

Cloud Computing on 4th – April -2013 during Technofest -2013

Department of Computer Science has Organized a workshop on “Cloud Computing” on 4th – April -2013 during Technofest -2013 for C.S.E Students. The speaker was Mrs. P.Vasavi from RCV Innovations Pvt. Ltd, a Cloud Computing expert. She has been working in this domain for last 6 years . The one day workshop schedule include training on :-

- Overview of and components of Cloud Computing
- Cloud and Virtualization
- Impact of Cloud on Business
- Cloud service models
- Cloud Deployment of Cloud both Private and Public cloud issues
- Design and implementation of Cloud paradigms and its demonstration
- Risk , Commercial and financial Management of Cloud Computing.



The above workshop happens to be a boot camp for the students venturing for real time scenario implementation with a motivation with respect to mini and main projects.
