A one- day workshop was organized by department of Information, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology on “Ethical Hacking” under the CSI student branch for the department of CSE and IT on 04th September 2013. The speaker, Jai Narayan Sharma gave live demonstration on “Ethical Hacking”. The aim of this workshop was to give awareness to the students that how the hackers are able to hack using different tools and techniques and how to provide security to any online data or personal computers. Besides this, the students came to know about the job opportunities in this field.
The topics covered in this workshop were what is hacking, types of hacker, job opportunities, email spoofing, IP spoofing, SMS spoofing, call spoofing, MAC spoofing, finding remote IP address, finding remote MAC address, phishing attack, SQL injection. Apart from the above topics, some of the other important topics like email hacking, email header, email security, tracing a hacker, windows hacking and security, file and application password hacking, tab nabbing attack through back track, unblocking everything on internet, steganography, trojan horse and key logger, perfect steps of a hacker, identifying victim, information gathering, find a loop hole, the actual hack, escape without trace.
At the end of the workshop, there was a query session and the students cleared all the doubts regarding the hacking and security. There was a very good feedback from the participants of the workshop. Students are looking forward for similar events in the future.
Guru Nanak Institute of Technology had organized a one-day workshop “Entrepreneurship Orientation Program” on 23-08-2013 co-ordination with NSIC, Kushiaguda, Hyderabad. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. G.Vishwanath, NSIC, Dr. S.Sreenatha Reddy, Principal GNIT, Dr. S.A.Sreenivas, Principal, GNIP and Prof.Sandeep Singh Rawat, HOD, Dept of IT, GNIT. Total 156 students from GNIT participated in the workshop.
Speaker of the day Dr. G.Vishwanath (Expert from NSIC) described the role of entrepreneurship in recent time. He gave some basic idea about how NSIC helps to create a new small industry and how to manage & develop that industry. The event was a grand success. All the students are thankful to management of GNI for arranging this type of workshop and are also hopeful to attend this kind of workshop future.

The Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and CSI - GNIT student branch successfully conducted 5 days training programme “Google Apps for Education” from 6th - 10th January 2014.
Mr. Dwarakanath Cheyyur, Director - Implementation, Cloud Reign was the Chief Guest of this Training programme. The programme was hosted by Mr. Manish (II year, IT) and Ms. Mounika (III year IT). The training program began by welcoming the Chief Guest, the Principal GNIT Dr. S. Sreenatha Reddy, Vice Principal - Prof. M. Narendra Kumar and HOD - IT - Prof. Sandeep Rawat by the hosts. The traditional lighting of lamp was performed by the dignitaries. Total 300 students and staffs from all the branches attended five day event.
Mr. Ananth, trainer, Cloud Reign, Chennai trained the participants about 8 basic apps of Google such as Drive, Sites, Calendar, Contact, Search, Blog, Groups and +You. The participants we rememorized by the event and were looking forward for such events in future.
Computer Society of India - GNIT student’s branch &department of IT Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Ibrahimpatnam organized a technical quiz followed by paper presentation on 28th December, 2013 and 4th January, 2014. Total 76 students participated from CSE and IT departments. The faculty members Mr.J.Naresh Kumar, Mrs.D.L.N.Prasunna and Mrs.Nazimunisa were the jury for the technical paper presentation.
Finally the following students were emerged as winners and were awarded prizes by Prof. Narendra Kumar, Vice Principal & Prof. Sandeep Singh Rawat, HOD – IT,
Guru Nanak Institute of Technology in association with UMO conducted a national level workshop on design, innovation and User experience. It was a one day workshop where students from different colleges participated in the workshop. The workshop was attended by 50 students from different discipline. INSTILL DESIGN is a philanthropic endeavour, a movement with a vision to introduce innovation at root level and transform students to realize their hidden creativity and potential to innovate. Its main aim was to kindle the right part of the brain to bring about the creativity in students.
The event started off with the inaugural function at 10:00 AM on 20thMarch 2014. Prof. Sandeep Singh Rawat (HOD) and the mentor of workshop Ms.KomalMangu attended the function along with all the participants. KomalMangu is a working professional from Cognizant, Hyderabad and is highly qualified individuals with motivation to empower the next generation.
The session started at 10:45 AM. The participants were divided into six groups. The session started with inspiring speech from the mentor. The first task of the day was to create the tallest tower using marshmallows, spaghetti sticks, cello tapes and a thread. The students were provided with the required materials to build the tower. All the participants tried to create the tallest tower possible with their innovative ideas. There was a great competition among the teams during the workshop which in turn gave out the best models.
After such great deal of innovative thoughts and good work, the session closed for lunch. The lunch break was for 45 minutes. The students not only enjoyed the food but at the same time discussed about their experience during the workshop. Some of them felt that these sessions were very interactive and gave way to their thought process. It was something different from their daily routine and participants enjoyed working in teams.
After the lunch session the teams arrived in their respective classes for the afternoon session. The next task in hand was to design an identity card for themselves. The card had to be different from the normal identity cards portraying the best potential qualities in them. The participants worked hard and came up with really great identity cards. Some of them were funny and some were technically creative. However it was a good sight to see the different forms of ID cards created with lot of imagination and some hidden elements behind every Id card.
The workshop ended with the valedictory function. The certificates were distributed to all the participants and feedback was taken. It was a very useful and interactive day. The students enjoyed every task.

The workshop was declared to be a grand success with 50 participants from various disciplines. The department looks forward for such great events in the near future.
